Conflict Between Conflict Management And Resolution

Learned- there is still a negative association with conflict. Reflects poorly on the supervisor when there is conflict but in reality it’s only negative when the supervisor or employee, depending on the situation does not address the conflict. Unresolved conflicts can negatively impact not only the employees involved but also the company. Unresolved conflicts result in negative impacts not only to the individual but also the company. Focus on the problem, not the person. Sometimes the conflict will be reoccurring or unresolvable to the satisfaction of both parties. The key concept that I learned or were reinforced through the readings are removing emotions, setting a goal for the resolution and conflicts are inevitable. My position often requires me to be involved with numerous conflicts both directly and indirectly. There are times that I encounter angry and frustrated employees due to conflicts with both co-workers and supervisors. Often I get involved and help identify and walk both through the conflict. One of the most critical concepts of conflict management and resolution is to remove emotions from the issue. This is often easier said than done. It is important to remember that there are multiple emotions from multiple people that can cloud judgement and influence our listening abilities. Refraining from making assumptions based on emotional connection is also important. An example of emotions and assumptions is one that occurred recently.
